If you’re wondering why there are all these GP3-3 AI copywriting tools popping up all of the sudden? And why are some of them are cheap while others cost thousands of dollars per year?
As with most things, the answers come back to Elon Musk.
Back in 2015, Elon Musk and a few of his billionaire buddies started Open AI, a research lab that had the goal of promoting and developing friendly AI in a way that benefits humanity as a whole.
What could go wrong?
AI Copywriting & GPT-3: How It All Started?
Well, where the potential death spiral begins is in 2018 when Musk left the board of Open AI over a potential conflict of interest with Tesla’s own AI efforts.
Then in 2019, Open AI transitioned from being a nonprofit to being a for-profit.
Then they quickly signed a billion-dollar deal with Microsoft and that got out of control quickly.
But here’s where the part that is relevant to you comes in.
Back in June of 2020, while the entire world was shut down, Open AI announced GPT-3, a language model that’s trained on literally trillions of words that it got from; the encyclopedia?
…no, the internet.
Could you find a worse source people?
Open AI Relases The A.P.I Technology
Most importantly, Open AI also released “The A.P.I” which is literally the connector that feeds dozens of these AI copywriting tools that you keep seeing all over the place.
Now, we’re going to talk a lot more about The A.P.I because that’s the real heart of the matter.
But first I want to emphasize what a big deal that GPT-3 really is.
So, what is it?
It’s aimed at the natural language; answering questions.
So, you can ask it questions in natural language and it just answers them.
And it also can translate between different languages, and it can improvise texts that are actually coherent.
It really is the stuff of Saifai dreams.
GPT-3: 10X Increase in Technology In Just Few Months
It’s so impressive that before GPT-3, the largest language model was Microsoft’s own “Turing-NLG.
Turing-NLG was no slouch; it was capable of 17 billion machine learning parameters.
Anytime you get into the tens of billions of things, that’s a lot to count, right?
Well, GPT-3 is capable of 175 billion machine learning parameters.
So literally over 10 times an improvement over the previous champion, Microsoft.
Of course, Microsoft made this deal with GPT so you’ve got to wonder what’s going on there?
But what’s even more important is that Turing came out in February of 2020, and GTP came out in June of 2020; so just a few months later, a 10X increase in technology; it’s pure alien stuff, thanks to Elon.
Microsoft Invests in Open AI
In September of 2020, Microsoft struck another deal with Open AI. This time it gave them an exclusive license of GTP-3’s underlying code.
That’s right, Microsoft gets the actual underlying code while everyone else is stuck with The A.P.I
So, what is The .AP.I?
Well, you’ve probably heard the term API before, it stands for Application Programming Interface.
It’s basically software that allows two applications to talk to each other.
So, it’s basically like any AI copywriting tool out there connects to the API, which connects to GTP-3.
So, all of the applications built with the API should basically be the same.
They’re just connecting to an API and spitting out data from a service, right?
So, should you just buy the cheapest one and move on?
Well, it’s not quite that easy…
GPT-3 Models & Pricing
To start, Open AI’s API is made up of several different engines.
They’re called:
- Da Vinci
- Curie
- Babbage
- ADA
Each of these engines has its own specialty, but DA Vinci is generally the most capable.
So that sparks the question that if you made a product that used the API to connect to GTP-3, why wouldn’t you just use the DA Vinci engine?
Well, obviously it’s because each engine has its own pricing.
So, let’s say as a consumer, I purchased a $39 copyrighting product that I bought at the local LTD yard, the more that I use that product, the more API requests that product is going to need to make.
So, they’re definitely going to need to optimize those requests and choose the less expensive engines whenever possible.
And no matter what over time, if I continue to use that product, I won’t be a customer of theirs, I’ll actually be a liability. I’ll be costing them money the longer I stay active with the product.
So basically, they’re going to need to either sell me more things, create more expensive plans or get me to leave the business so that I don’t bankrupt them.
And if I don’t and there’s a lot of people like me, eventually they’ll go out of business if they’re not able to generate some monthly recurring revenue to pay their API bills.
GPT-3 AI Copywriting Tools & Lifetime Deals
And for this simple reason alone, a lifetime deal for an AI copywriting tool is probably not the wisest investment.
This is another important factor that needs to be understood well. For example, when it comes to AI content writing, we see a lot of lifetime deals on marketplaces like AppSumo, or Pitch Ground where they offer unlimited lifetime deals to make it more attractive for the user.
But remember that a lifetime deal means not for your life, but until the company’s existent.
So if the company has not any proper plans or infrastructure essentially means that software can fail in another year and you will lose your investment with it.
So, should we just look for a monthly tool that only uses DA Vinci, starts bombarding developers, saying, hey, what engines are you connecting to?
Well, it’s not that simple either.
These products, aren’t going to just tell you what they’re up to behind the scenes. How they’re utilizing the API is their secret sauce.
It’s literally what gives each product its own personality.
What it really comes down to is the developers who are writing the software that connects up to the API that talks to GTP-3.
How well are they able to navigate the API, to be able to pull the best results out of GTP-3, and then make it enjoyable to use, make it so that it’s user-friendly for the average person like URI to interact with the software.
What GPT-3 Is Good and Not So Good At…
The output of GPT-3 is so good that it’s honestly difficult to tell that it was created by a computer.
But what’s interesting is that the GTP-3 output also struggles with stuff that humans find very easy; things like factual knowledge.
But what it’s really good at is writing creatively and persuasively; skills that only a small percentage of adults actually have developed and maintain.
Why There Are So Many AI Writers in The Market?
You need to understand is that a huge demand equals a huge opportunity. That’s what we are seeing right now in this particular space.
It’s true that most of us are simply lazy when it comes to writing and everyone needs content especially in 2022.
It can be a blog post, it can be a book, it can be a social media post. We simply need to get content and most of us feel unable to write either by technical difficulty or language difficulty, or we feel lazy about it.
Writing takes time if you want to do it yourself or it takes skill in order to do a better job on it, or it takes money in case you are unable to do it and you go out and hire freelance writers or copywriters.
And also the huge reason for the demand is the development in AI writing before one and a half years or so there was not much talking about AI writing and content generation tools because the GPT-3 was in development and not ready for the public.
But just from the last year, we have been seeing huge development in softwares which are affordable as well as available to the public and that is the main reason for the demand in the AI writing space.
So in short huge demand created huge opportunities in this particular space.
But it all means that AI will take over copywriting?
Will AI Replace Copywriters?
AI will not replace copywriters since AI is not able to create content itself. At best it’s really just recycling information that’s already there and of course, that’s what an AI can do but it’s doing so in a pretty bad way where the facts are not straight.
I think we will see a lot more spam and a lot more crap articles because it’s so easy to just hit the button and generate content.
And people are lazy they just want to churn out content whenever there’s a possibility to do that.
So, if you’re a copywriter now is an opportunity for you to stand out above all this spun content and all this content that’s just recirculating the same basic facts.
If you can throw in some new stuff and you can show some original thought and just have an expert writer write some good stuff about it and you don’t need to be an expert in the field to do this.
How to Choose the Best AI Copywriting Software?
So, the criteria for the perfect AI writing tool would be:
If you’re into this tech and you see the immense potential in increasing your creative output with AI-assisted writing, you’re going to want to check out this review of the best AI copywriting tools and go deep into the top GTP-3 writing tools. I reviewed as of now over 32 of them.
The results of this test were very interesting.
I’ve also created dedicated and honest reviews to compare and contrast the top tools including Jasper AI, ShortlyAI, ContentBot, and many more. The criteria that I was using when I review these products are looking at how useful they are to create long-form blog content or how useful they are to create long-form sales content.
I also show how easy it is to create shorter content, things like social media content or product description.
But most of all, we want to check to make sure that it’s passing any sort of plagiarism test. Is this content coming back as original?
I also take a look at other things like features and integrations, the number of templates they have available to them, and then just overall value, because there is such a wide disparity in terms of the cheapest tool, is just a one-time fee of under $50; other tools, literally charging thousands of dollars per year.
Why Content Generated by GPT-3 Differs?
In recent months, there have been many companies who claim to offer the best content writing solution on the market.
Unfortunately, they all seem to end up doing roughly the same thing.
While some might offer a better service than others, we haven’t seen anything that could actually take over as the leader in this business.
And if we think from a logical point of view, most of the software struggle when they try to build their own database. For example, SEO software creates its own database.
But most of the AI writing tools have sources like GPT-3, GPT-4 where the source is already built out and has access to the product, they just need to find the best way to make use of that source and bring the best result for the user in the most effective way as possible.
And as mentioned earlier, there are a couple of Open AI sources and every single tool is trying to build a layer of application access where they are trying to find best practices to bring the relevant output based on the same sources and doing some internal applications or process regarding it.
So they are not building their own databases and most of this data comes from those particular single locations.
We also see all the different organizations are building their own data source for this, and also new techs have been developing in order to improve machine learning, advancing the processing so the industry is still in a volatile state.
AI Is Not Just Limited To Writing
It’s also worth mentioning that GPT-3 and Open AI are not just about writing. For example, there are image-based generations, AI music, and a lot more because the potential is there.
AI has huge possibilities and they are trying to integrate this into every single thing as much as possible and you also see the trend nowadays in the market.
So it’s not just about writing tools, any SaaS business in the market tries to associate themselves with an AI and some way try to make use of this particular product as a way to provide a unique feature to the software and outperform humans at most economically valuable work.
The Future of GPT-3 and AI Copywriting
There is no doubt in my mind that GPT-3 is here for good, the same way that drum machines, synthesizers, and pitch correction are never going to be erased from the planet no matter how much as old guys complain.
So, for better or for worse, you can expect to be sold some stuff by AI sooner than later.
(You probably already have, honestly)
So, like the lumberjack whose ax was replaced by a chainsaw, the music producer whose tape machine was replaced with Pro tools and Auto-Tune, or just the cashier who was replaced by the self-checkout lane, GPT-3 is already changing the web for better or worse.
So, I think you owe it to yourself to at least have an eye on how the shape of the internet is changing even if you decide not to use it at all.
