GrooveFunnels vs ClickFunnels 2.0: Side by Side Comparison

GrooveFunnels vs ClickFunnels

Today, we’re going to put to the test two popular funnel-building software, GrooveFunnels vs ClickFunnels where one has been dominating the industry, and the other one is the new kid on the block that’s been getting a ton of attention recently.

This is the most up-to-date comparison where I’ll compare the new ClickFunnels 2.0 version with the recently upgraded Groove platform.

By the end of this side-by-side comparison, you will be able to see the similarities and the differences between the two software and decide which funnel builder to go with that is going to be best for you and your business.

For those of you who are relatively new to funnel building and haven’t heard of these two platforms before, essentially what these two platforms do is it’s used to create sales funnels and marketing campaigns.

So, let’s dive deep into this ClickFunnels vs GrooveFunnels in-depth comparison.

📝 GrooveFunnels vs ClickFunnels TL;DR

At this time, GrooveFunnels does nothing better than ClickFunnels, especially after the new ClickFunnels 2.0 launch.

GrooveFunnels’ only advantage is the free plan. However, the majority of the features in the GrooveFunnels free plan are still in beta, and not everything works properly.

If you’re just getting started with your online business and can’t afford a more advanced digital marketing platform, GrooveFunnels might be a better option for you. GrooveFunnels is still in its early stages, and not everything works perfectly, but it’s free, so there’s really nothing to lose.

GrooveFunnels is a better option if you want a one-time lifetime access fee that will save you a lot of money in the long run.

But if you need more advanced marketing automation features that GrooveFunnels is clearly lacking, ClickFunnels 2.0 is the way to go.

You see, ClickFunnels used to be a basic sales funnel builder. But in 2022, the founders launched the new ClickFunnels 2.0 version, which is regarded as a game changer in the industry.

When compared to the previous version, ClickFunnels 2.0 is far more versatile, lighter, and offers users far more features.

The new version was created to be an all-in-one sales funnel automation platform, complete with tools such as visual automation builder, team collaboration, CRM system, real-time analytics, blog builder, and more.

ClickFunnels also now has a more user-friendly interface.

Another thing is that with ClickFunnels, you don’t have to worry about breaking your entire campaign because something isn’t working properly. So, if you want everything to work seamlessly and you want to get rid of all the different softwares that you’re plugging in together in favor of a single solid platform, ClickFunnels is the way to go.

As you can see, there is no clear winner, and it all comes down to where you are in your online business. If you’re still undecided about which platform to use for your online business, I strongly advise you to try both and see which one works best for you.

What is GrooveFunnels?

Groove

GrooveFunnels on the other hand is more of the all-in-one type of sales engagement platform that also comes with the email management features, starting from tracking all the way to email automation.

You read more about this tool in my in GrooveFunnels review updated for 2023.

So, both ClickFunnels and GrooveFunnels share many features in common, but they do differ in some areas as we dig deeper into the features and functionalities.

What is ClickFunnels?

clickfunnels

Created by Russel Brunson, ClickFunnels is one of the most popular sales funnel builders in the market.

It focuses mainly on building sales funnels and landing pages for your business to help you get more leads, turn them into paying customers, and help increase average order value.

Page Builders

Let’s take a look at the drag and drop funnel editor inside GrooveFunnels, and then we’ll do the same for both ClickFunnels and see how they compare.

ClickFunnels Page Builder

Inside the ClickFunnels dashboard, you’ll find all your different analytics, follow-up funnels, email lists, contacts, etc.

And ClickFunnels does have a very large amount of good templates and I’ll show you that when I take a look at the drag and drop features.

Building a sales funnel with the ClickFunnels page builder is a very straightforward process.

You simply click “add new” and you’ll have multiple different options.

ClickFunnels - build a funnel

You can pick a classic funnel builder or cookbook builder process which is something that ClickFunnels introduced but didn’t really take off.

It’s got some issues.

But if we click on “create a new funnel”, you can choose your different types of funnels.

ClickFunnels - sales funnel options

You’ve got a lot of flexibility with ClickFunnels more also than with the GrooveFunnels right now, but it is worth noting that GrooveFunnels is in beta.

And they’re adding new things all the time, whereas ClickFunnels is been out for a number of years now.

It is based on quite outdated technology, but in terms of funnels, it’s top-notch.

You can take a look at collect emails if you want your funnel to start building your list, or you can choose it to sell your product inside ClickFunnels.

You can also host webinars here or you can click on create a custom funnel.

And then you can start building your sales funnel.

In terms of an actual number of templates, ClickFunnels has the most, it has absolutely tons and also a marketplace to buy new ones if you want to.

ClickFunnels templates

The templates are divided into different categories:

  • Optins
  • Sales
  • Webinars
  • Memberships
  • Affiliates
  • Pop-ups

You can also import funnels on ClickFunnels.

That feature has recently been introduced to GrooveFunnels, but again, it is in beta and does have a couple of issues.

For beginners, this is probably the most beginner-friendly page builder.

So in terms of funnel building, ClickFunnels is really, really good, but it doesn’t have a lot of the features that GrooveFunnels will have eventually.

But there’s not as much here as there is in GrooveFunnels, and it’s not meant to be. ClickFunnels focuses primarily on sales funnels and it does that very, very well.

So, if one of your things primarily wants a funnel builder and a membership site builder, and you’re not really too interested in much else then that might be something to consider for you when comparing these.

GrooveFunnels Page Builder

The funnel builder inside GrooveFunnels is called GroovePages.

And you can start from scratch, or you’ve got access to lots of different templates.

groovefunnels templates

GrooveFunnels is adding new funnel templates all the time.

It’s also worth noting that GrooveFunnels have hired a lot of its funnel designers from ClickFunnels and Kartra, and they are now developing funnels for GrooveFunnels.

You can also import funnels now into GrooveFunnels, that’s a brand-new feature, but there’s still a couple of things and issues.

The editor is pretty easy to use, and you can optimize it for mobile by switching the view very easily and seamlessly.

GroovePages

You can change all the different properties, such as background, border, layout, spacing, and different font and different sizes of text to look too big, et cetera.

However, it’s not as easy as the ClickFunnels page builder.

And there are a couple of issues I have right now with the GroovePages funnel builder, and the drag and drop is a little bit clunky in comparison to ClickFunnels which is definitely more polished.

And ClickFunnels is more beginner-friendly.

And one of the key differences between GrooveFunnels, ClickFunnels is that as GrooveFunnels is new, it’s built on newer, faster technology.

So ClickFunnels is built on a framework called Bootstrap, which is very old technology.

GrooveFunnels is built on Flexbox, which is a web developer’s grid system of choice.

It’s mobile-first and as a result, and I have tested this. My pages in GroovePages are faster than in ClickFunnels.

So that’s a quick overview of the GroovePages funnel builder.

Pretty much standard drag and drop editor, but with a couple of minor issues that will be ironed out.

GrooveFunnels has definitively more room for improvement.

Ease of Use

Both platforms are relatively easy to use. You don’t need some crazy coding skills or enter some Javascript. But for both of these platforms, all you do is just drag and drop.

And as mentioned in the page builders comparison, they have a lot of ready-made templates.

So, you can just model off those templates or use those templates and you can have something that’s nice and something that works very well in a very short time.

Plus, there is something called share funnels where you can just share your funnel with other people with a simple link, or you can have other people share their funnel with you.

So, building a funnel on both platforms is pretty much similar.

Membership Sites

And also aside from the funnel-building aspect, both tools allow you to create membership sites.

This is something very useful if you are a course creator or you are a product owner because that’s something where you’d be able to give your audience or your customer’s special access to your resources, to your information.

Affiliate Programs

In terms of their affiliate program, I know a lot of you guys are affiliate marketers as well and you guys might be looking to make an extra income.

Both platforms have really great recurring affiliate programs.

There are a lot of affiliates making a ton of money with ClickFunnels.

There are also maybe not as many as ClickFunnels, but there are actually quite a bit of people making a lot of money promoting GrooveFunnels itself, so they’re both very decent affiliate programs.

GrooveFunnels Affiliate Program

With the GrooveFunnels affiliate program, even as a free member, you can collect 20% commissions for each referral.

GrooveFunnels free user affiliate commissions

That’s really awesome that you can earn money, even as a free member.

For platinum members, you get 40% of everything.

GrooveFunnels paid user affiliate commissions

And it’s worth noting that with GrooveFunnels you get cooked in for life so even if people sign up for free account now and they upgrade in a year’s time, you will still get that commission.

And that’s another thing.

It’s very easy at the moment to earn commissions with GrooveFunnels, because of the offer to get people in on a free plan.

It’s promoting really well at the moment for a lot of people and GrooveFunnels has really come to town with this affiliate scheme.

So if you’re an affiliate marketer and you want to make money by promoting your product, GrooveFunnels is a really good option.

Now let’s move on to ClickFunnels.

ClickFunnels Affiliate Program

ClickFunnels is a marketing machine. They have probably the best affiliate scheme of any product ever.

They pour so much money into marketing, they have a lot of marketing experts and they run a lot of different schemes, courses, and programs so as get people to sign up.

The ClickFunnels affiliate scheme has changed a lot in recent times and is not beginner-friendly anymore.

One of the reasons for that is those new members now only get 20% commissions on the actual ClickFunnels software until they hit $1000 in sales, and then they will get 30%.

ClickFunnels affiliate program

This used to be 40% for absolutely everyone who signed up but has changed in recent times.

Having said that, on all the ClickFunnels books, the best-selling books by Russell Brunson, et cetera, you do get 40% on those front-end offers.

And ClickFunnels does a really good job of following up with people and getting them involved in their schemes.

So, if you’re looking to make an extra income, both can help you do that.

Let’s move on, and let’s talk about the differences. The real reason why you’re here.

Where GrooveFunnels is Better Than ClickFunnels?

So here are the features that GrooveFunnels has that ClickFunnels doesn’t.

GrooveFunnels Free Plan

Considering the price that you’re paying to get access to all these features and the fact that you’ll be able to get started with GrooveFunnels for free without having to commit in the beginning, I think that is a really good view, and it makes sense to go with a platform that offers that kind of option.

If you’re someone who’s not super good with tech and you just want everything in one place without doing a bunch of integrations, then GrooveFunnels is definitely something you can consider.

They’re still rolling out some features. They’re still kind of in beta mode, so do expect that there might be some bugs and issues that might occur.

GrooveFunnels Calendar

First of all, if you use ClickFunnels, it’s going to be hard for you to book appointments with your clients because it doesn’t come with its own calendar feature. So, it is going to cost you an extra budget just to integrate it with a third-party app.

But GrooveFunnels on the other hand comes with its own calendar feature called the GrooveCalendar.

GrooveCalendar

So you’d be able to book appointments directly and also help you seamlessly integrate into your sales funnel.

GrooveFunnels Video Hosting

Also, ClickFunnels doesn’t come with its own built-in video hosting.

So, what that means, you would need to rely on third-party video hosting platforms like Vimeo, Wistia or YouTube in order to embed the video in their sales funnel.

But again, GrooveFunnels, being very nice, have its own built-in something called the GrooveVideos where you’d be able to do your own hosting inside the platform.

GrooveMail

Both tools allow you to set up email marketing campaigns, segment your leads, and engage with your customers.

However, ClickFunnels does not have email, only on a higher price tier, and even then, you have to add your own SMTP.

Many people who use ClickFunnels use an outside autoresponder like Getresponse or Aweber, whereas you don’t need to with GrooveFunnels

GrooveBlog

So, in terms of blogging and SEO search engine optimization perspective, for example, you’re looking to start a blog, you can’t really do that on ClickFunnels because their technology is too outdated.

But with GrooveBlog, they have something called Vuejs, which is a Javascript framework that allows you to rank for keywords and allow you to start a blog using their platform.

But I know most of you guys are probably there to build sales funnels, but if you guys are looking to start a blog, rank for keywords, things like that, GrooveFunnels might be a better option.

So, there’s a couple of other things it doesn’t have. It doesn’t have the webinars that GrooveFunnels will offer.

Where ClickFunnels is Better Than GrooveFunnels?

So far in this comparison of GrooveFunnels vs ClickFunnels, it seems like GrooveFunnels has a lot more features that ClickFunnels doesn’t, but there are some very key things that ClickFunnels has that GrooveFunnels have not released yet.

The first one is A/B split testing.

ClickFunnels A/B Split Testing

ClickFunnels allows you to split test landing pages, split test sales pages to really maximize conversions to really see which one converts the best.

But GrooveFunnels doesn’t have that.

And I think this is actually a pretty big feature when it comes to funnel building because you always want to see and test which one is better so you can have the one that gets you the best results.

ClickFunnels Training

When people talk about the sales funnel, everyone talks about ClickFunnels because they do a really good job in terms of marketing.

They give really good education in terms of teaching you how to build a sales funnel.

Design, everything is important but how you can be able to create a funnel that actually converts that matters to your business more so definitely education-wise, ClickFunnels will be able to give you more.

ClickFunnels FunnelFlix

FunnelFlix sounds like Netflix because it is pretty similar to Netflix, but instead of watching TV shows and movies, it has a lot of courses and knowledge on how to actually build a successful funnel.

Clickfunnels funnelflix

And this is something that ClickFunnels has and GrooveFunnels doesn’t.

And that’s a very valuable asset because building a funnel itself is not too hard using these platforms.

What’s hard is really understanding how to build a good sales funnel, how to actually drive traffic so that it converts.

And that’s something that FunnelFlix does provide, and GrooveFunnels don’t really have much education about how to actually build and scale your funnels.

Pricing Plans Comparison

After we went over the similarities and differences, now let’s talk about their pricing, which I’m sure you guys are very interested to know because it’s important.

So, let’s take a look at the pricing structure of these platforms, and let’s start with the GrooveFunnels.

GrooveFunnels Pricing

In terms of pricing, what makes GrooveFunnels attractive is that you can start with a free plan.

So, this is a free version, not a free trial!

And it comes with essential features, including GroovePages, GrooveMail, GrooveSell, and also GrooveAffiliates.

If you want to upgrade and you get into the pay subscriptions and that’s where they offer the silver and the gold plan, which obviously give you more features.

But at the moment, the company is really pushing people to try to join the platinum plan for lifetime access.

So right now, they’re doing a little promotion, lifetime access to pay one time for $1,397 and you’d be able to get it lifetime before they switch it back to a monthly $299 per month for the platinum plan.

So that’s actually pretty interesting because not a lot of SAAS companies and software companies give lifetime access. Usually, it’s like a recurring payment, which is what ClickFunnels has.

ClickFunnels Pricing

clickfunnels pricing

In ClickFunnels is there are mainly two plans that are monthly recurring payments:

  • Basic plan – $147/month
  • Pro plan – $197/month
  • Funnel Hacker plan – $297/month

The basic plan actually only gives you access to building funnels.

And if you want the other features that we talked about in terms of the email automation, affiliate program, FunnelFlix, things like that, then you got to upgrade to their higher-level plan called Silver plan which is $297 a month.

And that’s one of the criticisms of ClickFunnels is that it’s expensive.

For GrooveFunnels, you can get a bunch of different features and tools for just their basic plan but for ClickFunnels, you’re basically fine when it comes to the funnels and then if you want to get all the other features that we’ve kind of talked about, then you’ve got to upgrade to the $197 per month, which is relatively expensive.

So, to wrap up this GrooveFunnels vs ClickFunnels, and it’s pretty obvious that GrooveFunnels has a lot more features. It’s marketed as the all-in-one sales platform so you have everything you need in one software.

Who is GrooveFunnels For?

GrooveFunnels is a better option for entrepreneurs and digital marketers who are just getting started their online business journey.

For those of you who actually get a chance to use it, you’ll see that GrooveFunnels is still relatively new so a lot of the features that they say are available, they’re still taking time to actually launch.

Because GrooveFunnels is still in the beta stage so, you do have to be patient.

But obviously, GrooveFunnels is doing like a really big deal right now with lifetime access.

The tradeoff is that you’re going to have to wait a little bit, or there might be some fixes that might need to happen before it becomes super smooth.

But just judging from the platform right now, it’s still usable.

Who is ClickFunnels For?

And for those of you who are a little bit more familiar in terms of the tag or with the other applications and do have the budget to invest in multiple software, you would want to go with ClickFunnels because obviously, it is a little bit more expensive.

Another reason why you will use ClickFunnels is because of the recognition.

It goes well in terms of your branding because they give awards, let’s say with the TwoCommaClub and all these things that can really make your brand attractive.

Think about it, when you tell people that you’re a TwoCommaClub award winner, that makes the whole game different for you.

ClickFunnels vs GrooveFunnels: Final Words

I hope you enjoyed my GrooveFunnels vs ClickFunnels comparison.

And hopefully, you’ve learned a little bit more now about what these platforms do and what they can offer.

In short, if you want to focus on sales funnels, only ClickFunnels is a better option. And if you need a more all-rounded business platform, GrooveFunnels would be a better option.

And I think it really is down to personal preference and what your pricing plan or what your budget is.

Both have advantages and disadvantages, and I hope that was reflected inside this review.

Before you get started with ClickFunnels or GrooveFunnels, I would encourage you to explore other digital marketing platforms and sales funnel builders like Kartra or Builderall 6.0.

They are much more superior in terms of software capabilities and offer free trials so you can test them all and see how they work for your online business.
