Solo Ads For Affiliate Marketing | Best Tips & Strategies in 2023

solo ads affiliate marketing

This training is all about solo ads for affiliate marketing. You’ll learn how to use them, where to buy them from and how to maximize your profit when using them.

Solo ads are one of the best types of paid advertising for affiliates which you can use to promote your affiliate products.

And I’ve been using it to promote different products recently and it’s been going really well so I’m going to show you how that all works in this guide.

So, let’s get started.

What is Solo Ad?

A solo ad is basically just an email advert that is sent out to all list of subscribers. Basically, you find a person that owns a large email list of email subscribers, and they will send your emails to their subscribers and you pay them for doing that.

Finding a Solo Ad Seller

There are a few platforms where you can buy solo ads. I purchased my solo ads from a website called Udimi.

And I’ll just show you Udimi now and I’ll explain how it works and how you can place your order on solo ads and what to look out for.

First, go to Udimi and just create an account, really easy. (using this link you’ll get discount)

Next, click “Find Sellers” at the top.

Udimi find sellers

And then this will just list all of the sellers.

You’ll have some promoted sellers at the top of the list.

You can have a little look for it and see what you like, what’s in your price range and you can look at their reviews and you can see they’ve got right in some likes.

Let me just explain how it works.

In the right top corner, you’ll see the price per click. This for example is 49 cents per click.

udimi price per click

And it doesn’t necessarily mean that the person who’s most expensive is the best.

So you want to be looking for where they got their traffic from and a little bit about them.

For example, this seller, top tier traffic, 90%.

Udimi top tier traffic

So, you want to be hitting over 85%, top-tier traffic.

Even 100% if you can.

And that basically also means that their email subscribers are from top tier countries, which is basically:

  • USA
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • UK
  • New Zeland

And this is important because if someone is sending out your link to let’s say third-world countries or countries where they haven’t got a lot of money, then they’re probably not going to be able to afford your product.

So they might click on your link and you’re going to pay for that, but then not necessarily be able to purchase it later on.

You want to be sending it to people who are going to be able to purchase, and that’s why it’s best to go for top-tier traffic.

And then basically you just have to look at the last 100 orders or clicks, how many people have reported that they’ve actually made a sale from this vendor.

Udimi orders percentage

I mean, I wouldn’t say this is totally accurate because some people won’t report it, but it gives you an idea of how well they’re doing.

Basically, if you want to place an order, you just click on the person and you can see all the information.

You’ll see the price, testimonials, and how many clicks you’re ordering.

And here you can choose how many clicks you need.

Udimi order

I always order 100 clicks at a time, and that just gives you an opportunity to see a good number, but it’s not too many.

You can test it out and see if they are a good supplier and you can see whether their traffic is converting.

You just order how many clicks you want, and it tells you the date.

And if you want to order more, you will have to choose a further date so you could change that to that. Maybe you can only order 300 from this person, but you can change that.

Choose how many you want to order.

So, as I said, I would recommend just order 100 to start off with

Next, you want to simply put the link to the sales funnel that you’re promoting and select filters.

I only really go for the base filter which is the cheapest option, but they do have prime filler, which fills out certain things like boxes and things like that or double clicks.

I just go for base filter because it includes a filter anyway, so they should filter out any robot so you shouldn’t be paying for clicks that are not worth anything.

You can also add your own text. You can put what you want the email to say that they’re sending out to people.

I don’t do that.

Personally, I recommend that you don’t do that because this person that you’re ordering from supposedly knows their own list.

They know how to communicate with them, they know what they respond to so you don’t want to be sending an email list to an email, to a list that you don’t know.

So, I leave that blank and they basically will write their email themselves to those and I think that you have much more success that way.

And you basically just click “Add To Cart” and then you’ll receive your clicks to your funnel and then hopefully you’ll have a lot of people that purchase, and you’re laughing.

Setting Up Solo Ads Campaign

To set up your first solo ads campaign you’ll need to create a sales funnel.

I’m going to show you an example now of a solo ad that I purchased for a funnel that I’m working on at the moment.

So, I’m actually subscribed to this person’s list.

I’ve ordered some solo ads from so I’ve had a chance to actually see what they’re sending out.

Solo ad example

You can get an idea of what they’re actually sending out to their subscribers.

So as you can see affiliate email that they send out to their list and this leads to my funnel.

Obviously, look, this person knows his list so if he’s saying he joined it last year, and it’s one of the best affiliate programs, they’re going to trust him more.

So that’s why solo ads work really well.

And then they click here to join and that leads through to my opt-in page which is the landing page to which they’re going to arrive to.

opt-in page

This is a funnel that I’m working on at the moment, which I’m still running tests for via solo ads.

And make this available to everyone. It’s available in my free affiliate training.

So, basically, they come through to this page, and I’ve got a double opt-in so they come through this page and then they go through to my sales page.

So that’s kind of how solo ads work.

You would supply your own funnel or my funnel (the one with your own affiliate link) and then they send them out to their list.

Now, let’s talk about how to maximize profits from solo ads as an affiliate.

Maximize Profits From Solo Ads

These are just some tips on how to get the most out of it.

Make Sure You Have a Killer Opt-in Page

So, you saw an opt-in page example earlier. You want to make sure this is really good.

And this is taking a bit of time, a bit of testing, bit of tweaking, but you want to grab attention, you want to get them to come through because if you’re paying for people to come and click on this website.

You just want them to switch off, you’re going to lose them. You want them to click on the bottom so massive; it really grabs their attention.

Build Your Own Email List

And another really important thing is you want to be collecting their emails. I would not under any circumstance just send them directly to your affiliate link, because you want to be collecting your own emails.

That’s the most cost-effective way to do it because if you’re building your own email list after you’ve done that, you might have 50 new emails.

You do this a few times, you could have 500 of your own people that you can then send over funnels to in the future, which means you haven’t got to always keep buying more solo ads.

So, I highly recommend that you collect emails.

But also, people don’t always buy straight away so if you’ve got an email list you’ve, collected their email, you can send them over affiliate offers.

So, just make sure you’re always collecting emails when you’re using solo ads or any kind of funnel or even more also with solo ads.

Two Step Opt in Work Best

On my funnel, you just saw, then it was a page with a button on so it didn’t actually look like it was going to ask for their email until I click the button, and then it asked for their email.

I find that works a lot better.

Track Your Conversions

Next point is, track your conversions. And there’s a tracking piece of software that I use to track my clicks. It’s called ClickMagick.

The other great affiliate tracking tool is Voluum but it’s very complicated. You can read more in Voluum vs ClickMagick comparison.

You don’t 100% need to use any of these tools, but this helps a lot.

When you’re using any type of paid traffic, you need to be monitoring how well it’s going on so you’re not wasting money and you can see which parts of your funnel needs work.

So, for example, you can run your funnel link through this. You create a tracking link and you can basically track the conversions of your funnel. I’m not going to show you how to set it up in this tutorial, but there are loads of tutorials inside.

But basically, you can set it up to track your clicks.

As you can see here, I run a solo ad to this funnel.

Clickmagick - conversion tracking

It shows you how many clicks I’ve had, and then here it monitors it so it can actually, when you set it up it shows you the opt-in rate for this funnel.

And then when they engage on the next stage, and then you can get it to track sales as well.

Next, what you can do is you can try another supplier with the same funnel so, then you worked out that this person is giving you a much better opt-in rate and then this person is telling you to stop using this person and you continue to use this person.

So that’s the reason why you would use tracking software like this.

As of now ClickMagick is $37 per month but you are using paid traffic, it’s totally worth it because it stops you from wasting money because you could be sending clicks, purchasing solo clicks from this person, no one’s buying, but you don’t know why.

It will save you a lot of money in the long term.

Clickmagick has a 14 day free trial.

Always Buy a Small Number of Clicks From a Solo Ad Seller

Don’t just go in and buy 500 clicks and send it to your funnel.

You want to buy 100 click packages and see how it goes.

If it doesn’t go as well, tweak something, do another 100 clicks, keep tweaking, and then when you start getting a good opt-in rate and someone purchases and you go, actually this is profitable, I’m going to buy 500 clicks.

And as I said, keep testing, testing, testing.

Only Buy Tier 1 Traffic

Another tip is, as I mentioned before, is to make sure you buy in tier 1 traffic because they’re the people that are spending the money and that’s it.

Solo Ads Benefits For Affiliate Marketing

So, the benefits of solo ads are as follow.

You Can’t Be Banned

You can’t get banned because obviously it’s just someone who owns an email list and they’re sending it out to people on their list.

You can’t be restricted or get banned like you can on Facebook. That’s one of the main reasons I started promoting on solo ads is because Facebook keeps banning my account for stupid reasons.

There are less restrictions and it works well for affiliate marketing because a lot of the main advertisers are starting to clamp down make money online opportunities.

Warm Traffic

Also, the traffic is usually warm. So that just means that the person that is sending out the emails knows their email list and they tend to trust them so they can be more responsive.

You can actually have better results than just posting a random ad there on Facebook to people that don’t know who you are, whereas if you send it out via solo ads and the person that owns that list will probably have a relationship with his list.

So again, they’re going to listen to him and they’re going to trust him more or her and there’s more chance of them clicking on your link and purchasing.

Cost is Prearranged

Another benefit is the cost and the number of clicks is prearranged so when you’re advertising on Facebook or Google or other platforms, the clicks can just vary and you leave it and go walk away for a few hours.

You could underspend in quite a fortune whereas, with solo ads, you just agree, I’m going to buy a hundred clicks for 30 cents a click, that’s $30 and you are done.

You Can Use Solo Ads to Build Your Own Email List

And another benefit is you can use it to build your own email list. You can start collecting emails, you can add an email opt-in page onto the front of your funnel, and then you can start to build your own email list.

And then you can start to send them emails about other funnels that you’ve got and other products that you’re promoting so then you don’t have to keep buying more solo ads in the future.

How Much Solo Ads Cost?

With solo ads, you pay per click that you receive on your link. The amount of clicks that you purchase is prearranged and the price can range from $0.20 to even $1.

But I usually pay anything from about $0.30 to around about $0.89 is the maximum I’ve paid for clicks.

It just depends on the quality of traffic that you’re getting, which I’m going to explain a bit more in a moment.

And the lists are usually in the make money online niche. But that works perfectly with many affiliate programs, And that’s what I use solo ads for.

So where to buy solo ads and how to order?

Conclusion

So that’s basically my overview of solo ads for affiliate marketing.

Now you know how you can use them to maximize profits.

This is a really good paid traffic source for affiliates, because they’re based in the make money online niche, they’re responsive people and it’s working really well for me at the moment.

If you want to use paid traffic, definitely give it a go.
