Today we’re going to be talking about affiliate video marketing. I’m going to give you some powerful tips to take your video marketing skills to the next level.
Whether you do affiliate marketing on YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok, the rules and strategies apply to all of these channels.
So, the reason why we’re talking about this today is that I’m sure you can go watch tactics, you can go see people saying, go make a video on YouTube, go make videos around this, or rank your videos for this, but the real power of video is how you can speak on video and how well you can connect with people on video.
That’s really what’s going to make you money, is practicing your skillset.
It’s not just about whether you can run ads or not, it’s about how well you can do your copywriting, how well you can do your creativity on your ads, how well your funnel is, how well you do affiliate video marketing whether being on camera or making videos without showing your face.
It’s all about the skill sets that you have around marketing versus what you are actually doing.
So, I just want to hone that in, and to be clear, you’re not going to be perfect on video, you’re not going to be perfect at copywriting when you first start.
But the point is, you can get better at it; and hopefully, these tips can help you get better at it and feel more confident, and ultimately help you make more sales, get more leads and make more money.
So let’s go to the strategies.

Why Video For Affiliate Marketing?
So first off, why video marketing?
Here are some of the reasons why you should use video marketing in your affiliate marketing business.
Video Build Trust with Your Audience
When you put videos on your affiliate marketing sales funnel and people see your face, you’re building massive trust with your audience. So, if you’re doing Facebook ads and you don’t want to do your videos on advertising, you could just work on your copywriting skillset, and on the next page you could have a bridge video where you really connect a face on the opting ad they originally saw.
You Can Use Video Marketing Skills For Any Traffic Source
I’m sure you know this already, but number one is you can use this skill set of being on video or talking on camera you can use video marketing skill set on any platform.
It doesn’t just apply to YouTube. This can be applied to TikTok, applied to Instagram, it can be applied to Facebook groups, doing live training. Basically any free traffic source for affiliate marketing you can think of.
Videos Are Great For Paid Advertising
Whether you want to make YouTube ads, Instagram ads, or TikTok ads, you can use videos for affiliate paid advertising. 80% of my ads are on YouTube right now and all those ads are just videos. I made very simple animation-type videos that I’m going to show later.
Videos Are Becoming More Popular
The next reason is it’s estimated that by 2022, videos will make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic. So just really think about that. Everything people do on the internet, whether they go on social media, whether they go on YouTube, whether they go on Google, 82% of the internet consumption will be video.
So, 82% of the time you’re on your phone or on the internet, you’ll be watching a video. And just look at TikTok. That app literally took over the past few years and that happens to be a 100% video.
So, let’s go into the tips on how to just get really good at video.
1. Have a Plan, Not a Script
Unless you’re doing a sales video, sometimes you can use teleprompter apps and use a script. But you can always tell when a video or even an ad is scripted.
And sometimes it just looks unnatural unless that’s done really well.
So, what you got to understand is, especially on YouTube or social media, even ads, people like authentic and real. They want to see you mess up because it’s just normal.
They’ll relate with that so again, as I said; a lot of you guys might have the same question because I did too when I first started.
How can you just talk to a camera for 10 minutes?
How do you know what to say for 10 minutes straight?
And this is why having a plan is so important.
And so, what I do for all my videos, including my ads; my funnels; is I just break them down into three parts. And I learned this from Russell Brunson’s book called Traffic Secrets
And the whole point of this is just to keep it simple. Let your brain do the thinking while you talk. It’s kind of a habit you have to form up.
But really to keep the structure in place, you want to just have three parts of this.
1. Have a Hook
So, the first one is, how can I catch their attention? You always want to start with your video with a hook.
So how can I catch their attention? What’s the point of this video? This is your hook. We’ll talk more about your hook in the next tip.
2. Tell The Story
So, the story is maybe you’re giving a tutorial on YouTube, maybe you’re actually telling a story in one of your bridge videos or in your ad, or maybe you’re just giving them a few tips, or maybe you’re giving them training on something.
3. Call To Action
What do you want them to do now?
How can they get a faster result?
Do you want them to click the link?
Do you want them to click the button?
Do you want them to download your eBook?
So, it just depends on where you’re posting the video.
So, on YouTube, your call to action could be “If you want to download my free book, there’ll be a link in the description below”.
Here is a great video on how to use calls to action in your videos.
And on your ads, you can just say “click the link somewhere on this ad and I’ll see you on the next page”.
So, it’s always breaking it down into these three steps and that’s just some quick tips for actually what to say in your video and how to say it.
2. Grab People’s Attention Quickly
According to statistics, you only have 6 seconds to grab people’s attention. So, it’s said that the first 6 seconds is how long you have to catch their attention enough for them to subconsciously decide if they should keep watching the video or not.
So, which means that you should put some thought into your hook. Make sure you know that there’s a clear benefit of watching the video in the first 6 seconds. So, what are you saying in that first 6 seconds to really catch your attention?
We went over this earlier with the hook but I want to make sure you put a lot of effort into that hook and don’t just skip over it because the hook is one of the most important parts.
It’s kind of like an email subject line.
For those of you familiar with email marketing, when you’re writing, you can spend two hours on a fricking email, but if your subject line sucks, well chances are way fewer people are going to open it.
So, what I like to do is I like to spend half of my time on the subject line alone because that is the front door. It’s just like an opt-in page. You got to think about it like that. That’s the first 6 seconds of your video that will dictate if people continue to watch this or not.
3. Focus on Your Message, Not How You Look
The next tip I have for you is people don’t care about you. This is the big objection for people that want to start video affiliate marketing.
And you really got to understand that people don’t care about you.
They don’t care if you mess up, they don’t care how you look, they don’t care how you sound.
All they really care about is what you have to say and if it’s even worth their time or not.
So, in the first 6 seconds of the video, their mind is subconsciously thinking – should I watch this video?
Am I going to get value for it?
Am I going to get entertainment from it?
That’s what they’re thinking in the first 6 seconds subconsciously.
So, what I’m trying to say is, it really doesn’t matter how you look.
It’s all about what you’re actually saying, the message you’re speaking, and what value you’re giving them.
And if whatever you said in the video brought some type of value or entertainment to their life, they’re going to keep on watching you.
4. Get Good Lightning and Audio
The next one I have for you is lighting and audio. These are probably the two most important things; technical wires for your video.
And of course, this is not as important on TikTok, Facebook, or Instagram.
But for YouTube and advertising, this is a must. And really, you don’t have to go all-in on this because this equipment is actually pretty affordable.
So just having proper lighting, even natural light works well. But just having audio, crisp clear audio is something really important.
5. Look Straight Into the Camera
Think about when you’re talking to someone, you want to look straight into their eyes. If you’re trying to sell them something or you’re trying to get them to pay attention to you, the way you do that is you look straight into their eyes.
You want to be respectful or you want to just catch their attention more. It’s more engaging, what I’m trying to say when you look into their eyes and the same thing on camera.
And to make this even better, you can try to angle the camera just above your eye line level. And this isn’t as important if you’re doing more screen recordings and stuff like that, but if you’re doing a camera recording or on your phone.
So, these are two bad examples.
So, notice the one on the left how it’s kind of low and you’re like looking up. That’s a no-no when it comes to videos.
And then also the next one is if it’s too high and they’re kind of staring down at you. That’s another no-no.
The best way you can angle your camera is just a little bit above eye level.
I would recommend the same thing; it’s just doing some type of eye level, finding the spot where you can go and sit somewhere, and just talking to the camera like you’re talking to a normal person.
6. Post Videos Regularly
The next thing I encourage you to do is a 30-day challenge for yourself. So, this doesn’t be where you have to go and record a video for 30 days straight and post it on YouTube. That’s kind of hard as you can get.
The best thing you can do is literally record a one-minute video of yourself talking about something random for 30 days in a row, but don’t post it. Just keep it on your phone.
The whole point is exercise is to get you comfortable speaking to a camera. And I’m telling you, watch yourself do this for 30 days and I guarantee you the results after 30 days are different.
It doesn’t have to be a crazy topic.
You can just create videos about what you did yesterday.
What did you do this morning to get up?
What did you learn today?
Just ask yourself these random questions and talk about them for a minute on video for yourself. And remember, you don’t even have to post it. It’s just to get you comfortable on camera.
7. Watch Your Progress
The last tip is to watch your progress. And I think this is one of the most powerful tips for this guide because our minds are constantly made to put us down and made to think of problems.
And I’ll just be honest. You probably won’t get good results after 30 days of doing videos because video takes time, especially on YouTube.
Maybe with TikTok affiliate marketing, you’ll get results way faster, but on YouTube, it takes some time. The algorithm has to make sure that they trust that your channel is going to be something that you consistently make videos around.
That’s the only way YouTube will promote your videos, is if they know that you’ll consistently make videos. So, you’re not going to see results very fast.
You might with an advertisement, but my whole point of this is, don’t just look at your results in the same thing with your whole online business. Don’t just look at results, look at the progress you’ve made since you first started.
For example, let’s say you’ve been trying to make money online for the past year. I’m sure a lot of you are in that situation. You just haven’t cracked the code yet. Well, just take a step back and look at when you first started making money online.
Do you think you’ve learned a lot more now?
Do you think you’re a much smarter person?
Do you think you have a way better chance to make money online now than you did a year ago?
Look at your progress. Really understand your progress and to keep yourself going, just really look at the big picture.
If I do this for two years imagine your progress then. Or if you try to make money online for another year, just look at all the stuff you’ve learned in the past year, I guarantee you I’ll be making much more.
So, you really just have to look at the big picture, share, and watch your progress.
